Are these the same as mk1 carltons/senators?

Sorry, I'd rather have an early Carlton, these are too rare now and they'd be a pain to keep roadworthy.

There was a Carlton on RR with a GREEN velour interior. I was nearly plunged into a deep coma just looking at those uber comfy seats.

There is a definite distinction between Rekord/Carlton and Senator/Royale. The latter ones had a window in the C-pillar. Then there is the in-between model called Opel Commodore and VX Viceroy. They came with the bigger front end (different grille) and 5-stud wheels like Senator/Royale but the same tail like Rekord/Carlton. Look at the wheels and you know whether it's a 6-pot or a 4-pot car. There even was a Commodore 2.5S and 2.5E Voyage which is extremely rare. I tend to believe that all these cars (except Voyage) left the same plant.

For £300 or so it's got to be worth a punt, even if you end up breaking it for whatever parts you can sell to Monza owners.

 

It's also the same colour as the Corgi one I got in 1980 so is obviously full of WIN.
