Any good freebie code readers for the iPhone/iPad

After about the 1000th time I've given up using my cheap VAG com lead as for some reason it just stopped working for no apparent reason.

 

Now I hear its possible these days to use a mobile phone to delete and look at codes due to some kind of wireless witchcraft and wondered if anyone has used such an app on an iPhone or iPad.

 

I preferred it when you could just hit things with a hammer to get things working on a car.
