Feeling deflated

So I have had a week off as I make the transition from a London worker to a kent worker

I have had a great time being with the kids etc but at the same time I had hoped to get on with the projects

1. 306 rallye - failed MOT got the majority of welding done but found more holes.. Bought a welder but need a mask and some skills.

It also failed on emissions and I hated the sound the decatted big bore exhaust made so I purchased a full standard exhaust system.. Only to be sent a diesel one :/ also requires a new driveshaft and a gearbox oil seals

2. 106 rallye - really needs a new rear beam and tidying up, it's a long term project so slow progress on this is expected but I have been lazy about painting the underneath, all rust on the rear sorted.. Plan is mint factory standard

3. 205 1.0 current daily driver. Tbh I feel this is at fault for making me loose interest! I really like it but it's ugly! I had hoped to have the 306 ready to

Save turning up at a new job in a battered old F reg. I am tempted to clean up the body work and stick some rallye decals on it! Seeing as the uk rallye is just a stickered up xl! I don't need to do this but I thought it would look cool next to the others!

Anyway thanks autoshite for being there

You are a lot cheaper than therapy

Three cool projects on the go. Life could be worse.

You could have 4!

I didnt think 306s rusted. 205s and 309s don't seem to at all.

I'm picking up another exhaust tomorrow for the 306 so hopefully jobs a Goodun

I used to console myself with thinking I could always get an 80s/90s Pug whenever I got sick of curing rust....Looks like I wuz too late!

Good stuff on the Rallyes - I always liked those and if people are saving them there might be one left one day.

Don't know if it's related but when I stripped the panels out of my '91 205GTi to rustproof it last month - there was no bare or just primed metal behind them, it was all painted in body colour and there was not a trace of rust. Could be a lesson there Mr.Manufacturer, I think rust prevention is being ignored or the subject of cost-cutting on newer stuff IMO.

Must admit my experience of 306s has been really good for rust.

I did see a friends with a little rust in an arch and the roof, but it was over 270K miles of hard use.

A 205 is ugly? It's not AS you need, it's a bloody optician's practise.

You're feeling deflated!! I've spent the last gawd knows how long trying to find time to fit a new pair of front discs to my V70. Finally found the time today - Friday to do the job. Everything came off and went back on exactly as it should. Drove to work Friday evening only to be greeted with a serious metal to metal grinding noise. God knows what's happened there, but I suspect the front n/s caliper. It's got to wait until Sunday now.
