Ta for the pics - I agree that 16s would look very silly (and no doubt drive horribly as I'd need laccy-band tyres for clearance). I've just been guessing at wheel sizes tbh, as the stock 13s look ridiculously small.

Out of interest, what were the 15" steelies above? Look a bit Renault-ish, and I'm assuming they were banded?

Posted

Nissan Primera steels banded, I was recently offered a set of 14" Mitsubishi colt steels which were just a smaller version of the steels above.

Are the ones in top of those four pictures Beetle GT wheels?

Posted

I never realised they were identical, but Beetles were 15". I think it's cos Beetle wheels are almost always solid colour, and the MG Mafia will put a cylinder head on your bed if you don't paint your Rostyles black and silver.

A 4 x 114.3mm PCD is limiting?

Pah. Try buying a car with 4 x 110mm....

114.3mm ?????.......is that what they call it now ? Metric correctness gone MAD.......... It's 4 1/2" (four and a half inches for anybody under the age of 45) diameter.

I notice that 12" 13" and 14" wheels are still referred to as such though, instead of 304.8mm, 330.2mm and 355.6mm.

I forgot about this thread, the mpi was sold then changed hands a few times until it fell into the hands of a banger racer who couldn't get it running and scrapped it.

I now have a saga aeroback to play with. 520d71528580522c7d69bb988708e755.jpg

Did I remind you about the thread by liking one of the posts? If I was 10 years younger and still on Retro Rides I would be very tempted to slam my Aeroback and put some cool wheels on it as your old one looks sexy in some of the pictures.
