The Porsche family were from Austria and the first 356s were made in Gmund and Steyr builds G-wagons, E-classes, various MINIs and has in the past knocked out Mercs, VWs, Jeeps, Saabs, Haflingas & Pinzgauers.

 

I think Austria's doing OK, very much so if you factor in land area or population.

 

They also knocked out Austro-Daimlers and Gräf & Stifts, which would be also more suitable as royal transportation than a Renner.

I'm still less than convinced that all the above constitutes a significant contribution to automotive history on the scale of car nations like America, England, Germany, France, Italy, and the like.
