Ford Ka, what to look for.

My little sis has a *whispers* Vauxhall Corsa C and likes it very much. 2001 model. I did try a Ka for my other sister, but told her the third gen Micra I also drove was a far better option. She agreed and had many happy years with it.

The Corsa C is a far better car, if serviced properly. Generally a higher quality and better designed car than the comparable Fiesta (despite being an older design); the 1.2 16v ecotec thing is smooth, quiet, very economical and surprisingly enjoyable to drive. My Mu's did 100,000 trouble fre miles until my little brother crashed it, serviced only every 12K.

I recall my Dad saying the same about BMC 1100's 35 years ago - great car but rust pigs and not really worth saving. The Ka is one of those cars worth buying in nice condition now and maintaining because 99% of them will be gone by 2024.

Let 's face it - most of cars that make us moist were rust heaps as well. But they've almost all gone now.

A low mileage Ka that's been slathered in underseal all its life is still a cheap and cheerful little roller skate with bags of character and fairly robust and simple engines. The Reverend makes a good point too about getting a good one and looking after it while they're still dirt cheap.
