Where it all started to go wrong for Rover - Jehova's Witnesses

I heard similar stories from the old hands when I worked at Charles Hurst Austin Rover. (The bit about a list taped to the steering wheel jogged my memory!). A couple I remember being told about are an Allegro where all the indicators flashed no matter if you selected left or right, delivered with a note to the effect of "you're the dealer, you sort it out", and a Maxi or Crab delivered with no engine oil in it for whatever reason.

Even in my day, which was well after BL, we still got some very iffy stuff coming in. I recall a Maestro with non-lighting instruments, and a couple of Montegos with glaring faults (wipers IIRC)

I cannot find it at the moment but in a issue of Car from the late 70s there is a letter from a despairing BL dealer in, I think, France with a whole catalogue of stories like the ones above.
