Mr Lobster Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 They had some (relatively mild) controversy on 5Live this morning with this, spokeperson for SafeSpeed saying it was a good thing and there should be more driver training, better standard of driving etc against some woman whos son had been killed by a driver doing 50 in 40 limit.Usual sensationalist BBC reporting sadly in getting highly emotional bereaved none expert to explain that 'nobody ever would die because of speed cameras' without much debate about facts or an unbiased discussion of the pros and cons for the move
mk2_craig Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Maybe, but doesn't the removal of a camera send out the message to your average meatheaded Kevin that "it's alright to break the limit here, you won't get done for it now" ? It would be interesting to see what the effect on mean speeds is, or indeed the accident rate (I'm sure it will make a fine study for some research student). Wonder if Plod will blitz the site every so often to top up the coffers.
