SMART Grundig radio code?

I have sold my Fortwo and just realised I don't have the radio code.

I have whipped it out (and the radio fnar fnar) and noted the serial number.

 

Are any of you good people able to acquire this (I have struggled) or is it gonna be a trip to Mercedes?

Allegedly Grundig will give it to you for free but that was a few years back.

£25 and a trip to Mercedes in Smogton (supplying dealer), with radio and log book was the only option.

 

Sunderland Merc don't do SMART, Newcastle wanted me to book the whole car in, FFS and Autosounds said they may be able to unlock it, but no promsies and it would be £30, if they could.

 

Merc have to fax Grundig, with the radio serial number, in order to get the code.

What a fuck on.

Shouldn't needto go to Merc? I just used a website whereby you type in the unit serial code, pay them £3.50 and the code is immediately emailed to you?

I didn't find that one! Admittedly, I didn't look that hard, but the sites like that which I did try, said they couldn't do it.

 

Incidentally, Benz aint been on the blower, yet. I told them it was going today, luckily for me, I lied.

Deinitely hunt around. I had the same problem with the Smart Roadster Grudig CD unit and the various online sites seemed to have the code.

They might be waiting for Grundig to fax 'em back but they will have a long wait... they went bust about a decade ago!
