It was one of my surprise drives of the weekend; having owned a Proton and a Hyundai Accent and driven various other Japalayrean cars I expected it to be dire but it was bloody good fun - peppy I believe is how Chris Goffey would have described it.

Sadly I never drove the Pride I lost my virginity in, so that package is now complete. Bar the whitewall tyres. Thankfully both the sex and the Pride were equally* good!

Thanks for an honest and entertaining review of the car Ian.

One question remained in the review on motorway use and experiments with a sat nav have showed the the Pride has a top gear ratio of 25 mph per 1000 revs which allows you to cruise at the legal limit on a light throttle with under 3000 rpm on the dial. We also discovered that the speedo was running about 10% optimistic.

I haven't re-brimmed the fuel tank for an mpg test yet but the expectation from the position of the needle is that it did the weekend at about 45 mpg.
