DSdriver Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Shamelessly copied from the CCC website:The House of Commons Transport Committee (which scrutinises the Department for Transport) needs your experiences of using services provided by Government motoring agencies*Whether you’re a private vehicle owner, licensed taxi driver, haulier or other road user – please fill out our online survey to help us build a better picture of motorists’ experiences. The survey will remain open until Tuesday 22 April 2014:Online Survey: Government Motoring Agencies: the user experiencehttps://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HWL86W7About the Inquiry:Launching the online survey Louise Ellman, Chair of the Transport Committee, said today,“The Government’s motoring agencies are changing and two (DSA and VOSA) are shortly to merge. All of them rely increasingly on websites and email for delivering services. We need to find out if these changes will deliver a better service when you do things like book a driving or vehicle test, apply for a driving, PSV or HGV license, register a vehicle or submit a SORN, and seek authorisation for motor vehicles, systems and components.Your experiences will form an important part of the evidence we gather for our inquiry. If you find these services easy to access, affordable and well run please tell us via our survey. And if you face problems please tell us how these arose and whether they were dealt with quickly and fairly.â€ÂFind out More:To keep up to date with the progress of the inquiry go to Inquiry page: Government motoring agencies - the user perspectiveFor more information about the work of the Commons Transport Committee visit the Transport Committee Homepage *The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), the soon to be merged Driving Standards Agency (DSA) and Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), and the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA).Please note no personal details are requested by this survey however your input will help to inform the work of the Committee.
Pillock Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I don't actually think the DVLA do a bad job. They sometimes mess up a bit of paperwork but I suspect that's often because we're the 1% that fall outside of their normal range of customers - not many of the people they deal with are importing a 1958 car with no VIN, or SORNing twelve cars every month. Actually, they often turn around paperwork pretty quickly and every time I've had to write them a letter explaining they did a little ooopsie, they've made things right. The laws and processes the follow however, are daft. Continuous enforcement, this new NOVA thing, expiration of photocards yada yada..... can't really blame the DVLA themselves for that but it must be directed higher. jonathan_dyane 1
Junkman Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I haven't received the paperwork for the Mitsubishi yet.
RichardMoss Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I have never had any trouble with the DVLA. They have always been helpful and efficient except for one lost V5 which they replaced free of charge after I sent them a V62.
martybabes Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 They need to be able properly to spell licence though... Lord Sterling and Negative Creep 2
Pillock Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I looked at http://www.grammar-monster.com/easily_confused/licence_license.htm to try to understand the difference but now I've just got a headache, and either word looks stupid as I've seen it too many times. As far as I can tell, the Licensing Agency deals with Licences.
Richard Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Licence is a noun, license is a verb. Think advise/advice.
