Thinking of looking for a mk 1 focus for my other half - for me they were the best model. Good looking and quite sharp to drive.

At the moment she has a 51 plate fiesta zetec ghia 1.25 - genuine 51 k on the clock. It's pepper red with grey cloth, it has air con, alloys, leccy front windows.

I have all the service books etc and it's never been welded, I have had to attend to the rear arches and I did a reasonable job, but it's starting to come back, mainly the dog leg next to the door. It's just gone through it's MOT.

Prices seem to be all over the place, however I reckon it's better than most and worth more than £500. If it does go I don't really want to put it on eBay as I will be trampled to death in the rush of mouth breathers offering £300.

It doesn't appear to have had a timing belt, that's for the next owner - not cheap at £200 +. Only thinking of changing because it is a bit small.

Opinions ladies and gents?

Stick it out there at £650 and end up letting it go for £520-560ish? Depends how fast you need it gone...

I had a very nice x plate 1.25 zetec which had the cambelt done was taxed and tested and a full history file put it on ebay with no reserve lots of photos and a good write up last in 2012 and sure it went for about 800-900. There great little cars but if i would of ebayed it the week after might of only got 500 its just pot luck.

In no hurry - TBH I think if it was a trader selling it he would be asking around £1k - it really is that clean.

I have seen them up for a £1000 sometimes £1295 at dealers too, maybe try 900 and see what happens.

Stick it on Gumtree at a high price and sit back and see.  I find Gumtree very good.

Utterly desperate justification for a 14 year old Ford in my opinion. You don't need to do that on this forum. Just accept it will be a daily misery and grind you down until you're so depressed you'll convince yourself that an old Renault is justifiable.

That aside, some of them had heater problems and it can be a bitch to repair because it's well buried under the dash. Just flick the blower on and if it makes a bit of a meowing noise (yeah, like a cat makes) then the motor is on its way out. If the fuse has blown then it is further advanced. It's only the motor though, nothing more sinister.
