custom springs, where to buy?

I am now totally sick of the rock hard ride of the 607.  Last year I fitted new dampers on the front (Bilstein B4) which at least stopped it bouncing but didn't make it any softer.  The original dampers were both leaking anyway.

There seem to be a couple of problems with early 607s like mine.

I think Peugeot were trying to make it corner like a 5 series.

Apparently prototype ones had stability issues and tended to swap ends so they hardened up the front.

Because the wheels are so big there's no room above the tyre for a spring of any length.  It's the shortest spring I have ever seen on any car that I've had and they are a joke compared with the 604.

When I measured the spring rate by the scientific method of sitting on the front wing and seeing how far down the car dropped the spring rate on the 607 was double that of the 604.  Interestingly the back wasn't too different.

Funnily enough on speed humps and the like it's okay.  At high speeds on the motorway it's okay. What is annoying me is the smaller ripples and bumps in the road around town.  I swear If I go over a 5 pence coin I would feel it.

I could fit softer linear springs but my fear is with them being so short they are going to bottom out on speed humps.  I think I'm going to need non-linear ones?

Can anyone recommend a good and reasonably priced spring maker?

Possibly?

I calculated the front spring rate using this data

active coils 5.3
wire diameter 13.4
outside diameter 158
inside diamter 132
free length 405

which apparently equates to 19700newtons/m or 112 pounds/inch

when I did the front dampers and so had the spring off my weight divided my the deflection got me about 19100 newtons/m so not too far off.

I need to get the car on a proper weigh bridge to see how much weight is on each axle but whatever that is a hard spring

I wonder if going down a rim size and higher profile tyres would help you, if they'll fit over the brakes.

All modern tyres R shit, crossplies FTW.

These guys made the custom springs for IM (Daihatsu importer) to put on the limited edition Sirion rally, and they were gr9. They still produce them, and on request have made them slightly stiffer than original spec. That said, I have never dealt with them, but have had good reports from several people who have.

The car is currently on 225/55R16 with winter tyres.  I don't think anything smaller is going to fit.

I've just had a set made by them for my Hunter with no problems.
