Inappropriate diesel converted shite

I've just spent a week at Beamish museum, and one of their Daimler buses has what I swear by the noise is a Ford Di in it!! Guess it's practical for daily use! Does anyone know for sure??

It's a replica based on a Dodge 50-series of all things! Perkins Phaser power I assume.

Ah! I did wonder, the rear wheels in particular look a bit "odd"

There's a London transport B series double deck based on a Bedford TK too!

Beamish 'inherited/was left' a Roller* - 1930s iirc.

*not Road!

Piston/bore slap like a penny in a cup....

Think a re-engine was contemplated (non RR!)

Re the XJ40 , in about 94/5 I had to visit Ford's Dunton Technical Centre and they had a few diesel XJ's around the place. I spoke to one of the test drivers and apparently they'd tried a few different engines including Scorpio 4 headed monsters, didn't mention the 1.8. The one he was in was a V8 ,which was fast but shook like a bastard apparently. Maybe some sort of US truck engine?
