Posting problems?

Sorry to waste space here asking a question which is more than likely me just being thick, but earlier I was just trying to post up a new thread which I wanted to add some pictures, I did a couple of paragraphs and then wanted to insert an image which appeared in the 'preview' but I couldn't work out how to continue with words after said pic as this wasn't showing in the section where you add to a post, when I tried adding more words they appeared above the image and not below it as I wanted, what am I doing wrong?
