I think the term lifestyle was invented in the 80's when it comes to car brochures and advertisements. I've always been amused by the pictures of stylish young couples with their hang gliding ,mountain biking,scuba, dogging gear in a nasty little hatchback.

I'm sure there must be many more incongruous or unsuitable car lifestyle examples out there

Part of the appeal of the old brochures for me is imagining the (drug fuelled?) ad agency meeting where this aspirational stuff was dreamt up.

 

"Talbot Solara. Ok lets say hes a pilot, yeah, parking up before he gets into concorde, yeah, perfect....."
