FredTransit Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 I'll explain. A year ago april my mate and mechanic brought a Mk1 camper to me yard as it would barely run, wouldnt get through an MOT and the tax was nearly up. Now between not paying in full for the work and stacks of unanswered emails and phone messages its still in the yard. At the end of last year the owner was emailed and told the storage would have to be paid for ongoing, but as ever this was never answered, though there has been . I eventually issued an invoice for the storage in feb with my mates company name on it.Will the DVLA give me the reg keepers name and address? If so how do I go about it? Is there a specific dept or form I need? I hear of the dodgy clampers getting keeper details all the time. There has been various replies to emails/PMs but they take weeks and only contain vague replies to maybe one question when 3 were asked.
Pillock Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Apparently so. V888, available from Post Orifice or online, is supposedly EXACTLY what you need and even lists tracing owners due to unpaid fines as one of the reasons you might want to do this. Put it in your company name, sounds better as you're not the owner, and document exactly why you need the details.
FredTransit Posted October 17, 2013 Author Posted October 17, 2013 PERFECT! Thanks for that. found this link https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/v888-request-by-an-individual-for-information-about-a-vehicle
FredTransit Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 form sent off. I'll let you know how long it takes......
Brent_Crude Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Good luck. Be interested to hear how it goes. A mate's wife, who had a nearly deceased Alfa 156 unfairly clamped and refused to be held to ransom, told the cowboy clamper to keep it. And she meant it too. It went on for weeks before he relented and cancelled the charges and begged her to take it away. I think it went straight to the weigh bridge.
