Thanks for that insight into ownership, amazingly I don't actually know anyone who's had one. Yeh, the airmatic system seems to be the worst offender. I was watching a 1999 S430 on eBay which was fine except the suspension was on low and wouldn't rise. Went for £948!!

I can imagine. As you know, that could be the compressor, one fucked airbag or several bags.

 

You can buy reconditioned OE dampers for about £230 each. Or pay about the same for 'good' used ones.

That S430 would be a bargain if it only needed one.
