Safrane V6 RXE saved!

A few weeks ago i bought a very early(maybe the earliest?)Safrane V6 RXE with a gearbox failure.

This is NOT a nice job but in my spares collection i had a know perfect box so yesterday me and a friend decided to do a box change and hope for the best....

It worked, this is NOT a kerbside job and needs to be down in a workshop with all the right tools(which is lucky seeing as i work for Renault)but the end result was a saved Safrane V6 RXE and i now own 2 of the 4 roadworthy examples,i did various other things like give it a full service, pads and discs etc,but its very clean,no rust 45k and the same colour as my minter,Persian red.

I,am sure it would be the earlist example as it was registered 2 weeks before the U.K launch,on a K reg.

Problem is now do i just use it when i want or do i plough some cash into the bodywork?

It could do with a full repaint, but no rust, welding etc needed but god knows how much that would cost and if i mint it up i,am sure i will be to worried about using it,i already have one garaged mint example so should i just use this as is and enjoy driving one?

Its not really got a straight side panel on it very various scratches and dings, the interior is excellent but the body is challenged.

But at least i,ve tryed my best to save it being scrapped or broken up,a gearbox change isn,t a job to be taken lightly in one of these.

Nice motor to save there. There's a Safrane in my local breakers, the extra long aerial is now on my Xantia.

No, sorry it's dark metallic blue

Nice save. It's a difficult choice. Do the work and worry about it getting dinged or scratched by the mong multitude out there, or get in and simply enjoy without worrying too much and revel in the fact that you brought it back from the dead.

Congrats either way.

It uses R12 still but i can get the R134 convertors for the high and low pressure pipes.

But is this a waste of time or MIGHT it work with a full regas?

It has no gas in the system at the moment.
