More Modern Help Please

I realise this is probably the wrong forum to be posting about problems with moderns but tbh you lot are the most mechanically knowledgeable and savvy folk Ive come across on a forum.

Basically got another issue with thee FPOS (Clio)

basically, windscreen was a bit dirty so put the washers on (havent used them for months due to no rain) the wipers went to the top of the screen (vertical) and wouldn't go back to their rest position no matter what I did, turned car off then back on, still not moving, messed about with the stalk and they started working again, only now they are really slow, intermittent they take ages to move, normal constant speed is really slow and the fastest setting is now slower than what normal used to be, the wipers also now park about 2-3 inches further up the screen than they used to.

any ideas what's wrong?

It's probably siezed up one of the pivots (the bit the wiper arm bolts to, and swivels on) - it's a common fault and easily obtained from GSF/ECP/ETC - you get the whole linkage supplied ready to swap the motor onto. There is a real danger of burning out the wiper motor (£££) if you carry on running it like that so try and get it sorted before it rains again.

According to the Haynes manual I have for one of these, you need to:

1)Open the bonnet

2)Undo 4 screws that are evenly spaced along the gutter

3)Get into the car put the washers onto setting 3, fast

4)Push both front seats back to their rearmost position

5)Adjust the steering wheel so that it is in it highest position.

6)Take off your trousers

7)Sit on the gearknob

9)Giggity

10) Reassembally is the reverse of the above steps
