4 was a Polski Fiat Polonez, I was going to give another clue but it would have been too easy. 5 was indeed a diesel Cavalier, the only words in that description that were true was "diesel" and maybe "car".

6 was Japanese, one of the smaller names.

I didn't pick these very well, next time I'll try and find descriptions that give you something to work with.

Back in '83 I had my Morris Minor (already laid up) my Triumph Mayflower was also sat unloved in my parents garage, I was running an Austin 1100 and had just bought a 1600E Cortina with a knackered engine,  my wife had just got rid of a MK1  Humber Sceptre and replaced it with an ex-MOD Hillman Husky (Minx shape) which was re-registered on an M reg.

I bought my first car in 1983 - a 1960 Buick LeSabre convertible that I traded in for a 1970 Cadillac Eldorado after the Summer.

Those were the days, cars like this were worth bugger all back then. In 1984 I complemented the Caddy with a 300 SEL 6.3 that cost me the equivalent of one month's paycheck. Mind you, I was widely considered a total halfwit driving such cars as a 19-year-old. The girls were with the Capri, Manta  and GTI guys. In 1984 I also bought a 1922 Indian 101 Scout from a WoD that went out of business. The addition of a pillion was not necessary.

In '83 I'd been driving about a year and was still in my first car, one of the original shape Audi 80s.

Back in those days the early 70s Audis were seen as nothing more than old bangers and it cost me £450, quite a bit in those days but imagine an ordinary kid getting an 8 year old Audi as a first car nowadays.

Is car #6 a Colt Lancer or Galant?
