Kenwood choons

My other half has a Kenwood CD player of unknown vintage in her fiesta.

 

Recently it has started to skip when playing cd's and seems to be getting hot. Not a huge problem but this has happened to me previously with a kenwood item that I owned from new - it got hot and started skipping.

 

I have had pioneer, sony etc in the past and had no problem with them.

 

Am I unlucky or are kenwood shit?

same as most stuff eventually it goes ping
