SORN VERY IMPORTANT NEWS

Going back to the licence thing, several of my friends and family, when asked, had only a hazy idea that the photocard part expired after ten years. Most of theirs had expired, mine was two years overdue until recently sorted. Given the general cant be arsedness about renewing, what happens (legally etc) if you are pulled over/have an accident or whatever with an expired photocard? Just wondered?

the legal term is driving not in accordance with your licence

the ramifications are fine, points and confiscation of vehicle.

A rare bit of good news on the motoring front then 8)

A rolling 40 year tax exemption should keep us all quiet about reinstating the 25 year one for yet more paperwork saving (says the owner of a 39 year old van whos keeping everything crossed).

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

It would mean a tax exempt 604 in two year time

40 year rolling exemption would be superb! Although whether it actually happens is another thing.

Still... It means the 740 would be tax exempt in 2028... Just in time for petrol to hit £7 a litre or something...

Until i read this thread i didn't realise/remember SORN had to be annually updated..........i've had a lupo sat on the drive nearly 3 years now and only sorned it when the tax ran out, never again since.

If or when i ever come to tax it again, am i in for sore bum/empty wallet?

Only if one reads the Daily Mail ;) .

Driver will be licensed to drive until the licence's expiry date, regardless of whether the photocard is in date or has expired... Expired photocars is an offence but sanctions nowhere near as severe as in the quoted post :) .
