volvo last MOTted in england, currently residing near Dungannon, and now registered with NI plates

MOT due in april, but then the car will be in Scotland

would it possible to MOT this car in scotland, or does it now need a 6-county mot?

and

if it runs around scotland for two weeks without MOT - will it be flagged by ANPR?

edited - because i thought NCT was used in the north

Is NI connected by ANPR? I know its the UK but it must be a different system otherwise why have different registrations?

Hey there.

So.... You can MOT the car in Scotland no problem, but it will need to be registered on the mainland before you do so, as there will be no record of the plate on the DVLA system and so they can't MOT it. Registering it on the mainland won't lose the NI plate if that's what you're worried about. You're better off putting it through an MOT here if that's possible, before it goes over.

As for the ANPR question - NO, details of NI vehicles will not be accessible to a cop car on the mainland. However they may choose to pull you because the system can't read anything. That's if he's a real tosser with F all else to do.
