On behalf of a potential future Autoshiter:

1986/7 Maestro 1.6 Mayfair, in premium JRG. One family owner from new, logbook possibly still in original owner's name.

That's the good bit out of the way, now for the nitty gritty:

As you can see it's been stood a while, under a cat piss tarp of course.

The bodywork is the usual Maestro story, door bottoms a bit shit, rear arches about the same. Door bottoms however probably aren't MOT fail (gaffer tape) and the arches are easy to fibreglass (ask me how I know) and to be fair I've seen just as bad on some Maestros still on the road. From what I can see of the underneath it doesn't actually look that bad, but there wasn't much room to get a really good look at it.

Engine: starter motor off apparently, one or two hoses not connected and for a reason the vendor doesn't know the o/s driveshaft is out and just sort of half arsedly attached one end but not the other.

In my opinion this is a spares source though if you have the time and inclination I expect it'd go back on the road. I reckon you'd want to budget for an engine though 'just in case'. Sadly you ain't going to be turning up with 50p's worth of petrol and some jump leads to drive it out of it's location.

The seller really doesn't want it sold for scrap. I did suggest maybe a Maestro owner could buy it, take off any saveable parts and then bin the remains which he agrees is better than it just getting weighed off.

It's in Chester and you'll need a trailer with a winch I reckon but I can meet you there to help loading if wanted.

He would like about £140 as it's worth that weighed in.

I do hope it goes to a good home, I was perving over this when it appeared on the OC website earlier in the year.

Incidentally it was sold new by SMAC Group, my local AR dealer. On the tailgate, above the 'Maestro' badge is a bit of sticky residue, it would have originally said 'SMAC' there. Still see the odd SMACMetro and SMACSherpa running around locally.

I would love to save it, but it's that old chestnut, too far away and no space to store it, sadly.

He did say he'd put it on there so I offered to re-advertise it (same place) and see what happens. It'd be ok if this could save or improve another one or two of them.
