Plum Pudding Races, Mallory Park

Blezzed up the road to this event again, went last year and it was a brilliant way to spend boxing day instead of picking over turkey and re-reading cracker jokes.

Turnout wasn't quite as impressive on the cars but there were more bikes. Only a handful of sidecars but those that turned up were either fugging rapid, or fugging cool so they can be excused. I made the mistake of leaving my DSLR at home and taking a little Canon Ixus jobbie which is supposedly a really good camera, however it made a mess of most of them so here's a few pickings.

This was in the programme as 1600cc so I'm assuming standard engine. It wasn't massively fast but it was very consistent and sounded gorgeous until retiring on the last lap of the last race.

Here's another, but this one was a two litre and was noticeably quicker, snapping on the heels of the Hondas all through the race.

I remember these as being one of the fastest things on earth - this one sounded gorgeous but was running towards the back of the pack. Maybe he was running it in, still nice to see it being used.

I kept trying to get a shot of this from the rear with the standard-fitment "big cloud of smoke" but none of the pics came out. Keeping pace with the R5GTT and sounded wicked, I was amused to see it still had the wood trim on the dash

I posted this on the Mk2 Mondeo thread, but have it for completeness. Seemed a really good replica, proper cage and slidey window bits rather than a £200 snotter and fifty quids worth of stickers.

Do you want some bikes? Have some bikes. You'll notice less commenting on what there are, since I just haven't the faintest. They looked nice though.

And sidecars...

And finally.... if your beloved racecar bursts into firey flames, what should you cross your fingers for? That's right, a Rover 400 "Fire Engine"

I assume they'll just rock up and burst the head gasket in your vague direction.
