Laguna V6 probs.

My dad runs a very tidy R reg Laguna V6 24V,recently it has developed a problem with it cutting out or going down to an idle suddenly.

I fitted a new fuel filter and oxygen sensor as this showed up as a permanant fault on our XR25 at work, all tested and was fine.

He took it home today and it broke down again, the strange thing is it only happens around bends or up long hills!!

My guess is the fuel pump is struggling but not sure,i have loads of spares from one i broke but i just wondered if anyone had any ideas,it also appears to loose all throttle response, maybe a throttle body problem(have a spare)

This must be one for R9UKE...he'll either fix it and/ or buy it

Well the throttle position sensor is a big issue with the Laguna II. The electronic unit which reads the position of the accelerator pedal fails, but the car doesn't cut out...

My 2.0 16v Mégane did something similar. It cut out from time to time and had an unpredictable idle, turned out to be a MAF sensor.

Giving the way you describe the issue, it sounds like the car is just momentarily losing contact with a sensor or control unit somewhere, completely confusing itself. Wouldn't be typical Renault behaviour or anything....

What ever happened to your wife's V6?

Hi

My wifes Laguna V6 bit the dust with G/box failure which is rare for the V6 as it use the ZF box,so i broke it.

My dads is a rare one, being a Phase 1 Laguna V6 with the L7X in it.

My mate at work has one aswell on a R reg and thats for sale!

Probably wouldn't be this but years ago I had a 25 v6 turbo that used to cut out at odd times. It turned out to be a boost sensor mounted on the air filter housing. The housing was lose and every now and again it would move and cause it to stop. Re-fitted the housing and it never did it again. XR25 couldn't find it as a fault even though it did do it whilst plugged in. So worth checking round the engine bay that everything is secure etc. I have also had a megane playing up in a very weird way which wouldn't show up on a code reader that turned out to be the engine wiring loom. Basically its a renault the only way to fix it for sure is a box of matches, renault's are rubbish but that doesn't stop me owning 7 of the bloody things

I think its £500,low miles had cambelt done and its a V6 Executive,R Reg in Barley gold,a few body nicks and a bit of laquer peel on rear spoiler, but its tidy.

I will be looking around my dads one closer on Sat.

One V6 i would buy is a manual V6 Monaco,i must admit the autos do fly in 24v form, been driving or around one for years, great cars, but finding a nice one is difficult.

I had a V6 RTi manual and it was a hateful car. It had a hard life but has still put me off the idea of another manual V6. Is your friends car a phase 1? It sounds intriguing!

You know how you said it can happen round bends? That anti skid shite they apply is always done in strips and the vibrations can cause an electronic tps to have a brain fart. Does it have a potentiometer at the pedal?

No only on the side of the T/B,i,ve got a boot of spares so maybe i will change a couple at a time,T/B sensor, coils, fuel pump etc and see what happens.

I have noticed on our Megane Scenic that when it goes below quarter of a tank, if I am going up hill, especially something like a motorway sliproad it loses power for a few seconds then comes back to life!
