Fresh fuel might help,as well as checking the carbs not full of shite

If memory serves me right, when the ignition module packs in the normal sequence of events is for it to run fine for a few minutes initially and then just be an awkward bastard after that. It happened to me once on Christmas Day with a Mk2 Granada injection. I remember it'd produce a great spark if you turned the ignition on and off, and occasionally run well, but once the engine had any load at all it'd cut out. After a couple of minutes (on average) it'd start again, seem fine and then die as soon as I tried to pull away.

Also, that has RS1600i seats, it doesn't also have an RS1600i camshaft does it? They ran solid lifters, all the other ones were hydraulic.

I've swapped out the ignition module. I'm quite certain its the dizzy cap at fault, after a clean up it ran. I'm having trouble finding a replacement.

Both Motorcraft and Lucas are the bloody same one. Both are way too big.

I'm sure the camshaft is standard XR3, although the engines had a rebore, new pistons, lightened and balanced flywheel and crankshaft etc. Goes well

I think your problem could be that the Lucas one looks nothing like its picture on the box!

This is the badger:

She starts every time after cleaning the cap but it still wants the cap replacing replacing as the contacts are still corroded and old.

Anyone need a DDB150 / EDH 128 as I have two of the damn things

They have IRS. All mk3's are the same in that respect.

Maybe you just need a trailing arm/hub carrier/bottom arm?

Love the look of your XR3 by the way, mate. They were made to be Sunburst Red!

There's a coupla old xr3is and mk4 escorts in the scrappy in Wrexham if you need any bits?

I need the bit the wheel goes onto and everything else to do with the rear suspension, except for the springs I have those

I take it the mk3 and 4 are the same? Or maybe even the mk 5! They are all pretty much compete, they have been there for years and will likely stay for many more. It's HK breakers in clywd.

I think the RS1600i is different. But the rest of the Mk3s same, dont know about Mk4s at all

I thought the 16i was the same? Hub/hub carrier/trailing arm/wishbone/shock/spring - on all models?

I reckon the trailing arm is fucked with rust, and is on the way/has snapped.

Able to take a look?

EDIT. The 16i differs in that it has adjustable castor thanks to the specific front ARB, and Koni dampers. That's it, I do believe.

I just raped a mk1 Orion on Thursday, I could have got what you needed!

The exhaust for the 16i has a different curve in it to go over the rear beam... to the rest of the range. At least that is what I have in my head.

Are these expensive parts yet? Would love to buy a new ones like but probably not an option now.

Oh right. I thought it was just fatigue!

In that case, you could have bent the lot. Fingers crossed for the chassis, as you say!

True about the exhaust routing. It's going over the same stuff though.

The trailing arms aren't expensive, suprisingly. £60 or so for a pair of new, adjustable ones.

I wouldn't know the price on hub carriers. Never seen any NOS rears for sale.

All of the rear suspension is subject to rotting away. What isn't? :/

You need to get under it and have a look!
