I'd rather see one on the back of a flat-bed than try and push the damn thing to the workshop... Had some big ol' biffer once break down and ask for my help, I obliged and nearly folded myself in half as she preceeded to sit on the damn thing and steer it!

ha ha. I never realised mobility scooters had breakdown cover. I suppose they would, thinking about it.

They get pulled by plod too, I saw one once being chatted to be 2 officers by the side of the road having a ticket written off. Saw him about 10 minutes later on the way home and he looked properly glum.

^ I saw one driving around the other day with an unopened ticket on the front - I thought it was a joke. They can really get ticketed?! What if they don't pay? AFAIK they don't have registrations or anything so how could they be chased up?

Most of the larger ones (Equipped with turning indicators and brake lights) are registered, but do not have to display their index number. Although, they do have to be taxed (Which is free) and have safety checks and a third party insurance cover on them.

 

You occasionally see them doing their rounds with a "Q" plate on but one I've seen is wearing a "12" plate!

 

Obviously, they only need to be registered if they're used on roads or have a maximum speed over 8mph (I think!)

Mentioned this in passing to the missus, who said that:

 

The grand-daughter of the old bloke pulled as above came into her baby club (which I'd just dropped her off at prior to going for a pint, shhhh...) and apparently he'd been driving up the middle of the road very slowly!
