keef Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Anyone know how this works? Sometimes I get messages directing me to autoshite.com other times from autoshite.co.uk. Doesn't seem to be any pattern or any way to chose which site to default to. ??

PhilA Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Makes zero difference which one you get or use. (nerd glasses/pocket protector mode) They are both A records for the same server, the same site. In essence, they are exact. Someone bought them both and pointed them both at the same thing; both of them resolve to the same place. --Phil

keef Posted October 12, 2012 Author Posted October 12, 2012 Makes zero difference which one you get It does. .com goes straight to topic. .co.uk goes to sign in page. Was after an answer as to how it decides rather than where it goes.

PhilA Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Ah, misunderstood Looks to be a local-to-computer thing- If I sign in and save the cookie for the .co.uk then it takes me to the same place each time, for both the .co.uk and the .com.

They both go to the same page anyway....

keef Posted October 13, 2012 Author Posted October 13, 2012 Looks to be a local-to-computer thing If my PC stays where it is, as it does, I can't see the server moving. ?? And as you say .com and .co.uk point to the same place anyway. Perhaps it is randomly chosen or maybe it does 5 .com s for every .co.uk or something?
