Pete/tim - buy an elmscan 327 bluetooth chinese copy thing on ebay, download the app ;) sorted for a tenner.

Far as the fusion goes, I think the ISCV is part of the throttle assembly (which is a nasty plastic POS) and best course of action is to change the whole throttle body for a new one.

New plugs inserted... STILL THE SAME!! Infact it wouldn't start for a while as the bores were full of water that had poured in when I removed the spark plugs. There's a specialist down the road so i'm just going to take it there and take the hit for whatever it costs.

If its water ingress you had,try a coil pack and leads set first, plus check your crank sensor isn't mucky - just unbolt it,wipe it over, then try it again. If you do surrender to a garage, try your local Ford dealer;they will have seen dozens, and should be able to place their finger onto the problem very quickly.Another thing to try is a bottle of fuel system conditioner incase the fuel in the tank has gone a bit stale,or got a little contamination in it

Cleaned the crank sensor today and it did seem a little grubby. It seemed to run much better afterwards but did stall once when slowing down to let an approaching car come though. Usually a similar trip would induce about a million stalls incidents. Basically the issue is still there but seems to be a bit better.

Surely a Fusion semi-auto is 110% shite the day it rolled from the factory?

Dose it up on fuel injection system cleaner and take it for a nice spritely run, might help improve it further.Usually, the Duratec engines from what ones I have encountered seem pretty sweet natured
