sco14 Posted October 2, 2012 Author Posted October 2, 2012 Very nice little 205's,the pale blue one looks really nice.Peugeot had a great little thing going when the 205 was in production, but the 106 which was supposed to replace it wasn't even half the car the 205 is.A couple of nice models of 205 I quite like were the Roland Garros and the Sceptre models which had gotten quite posh inside The holy grail of 205 diesels to me is the the STDT model, I think was made between 1993 and 1994. There is one of these for sale on ebay at the moment but has already had welding done on the boot floor.
hennabm Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Hi thanks for that. I suppose 5 or 6 mpg less for a bit more oooooomph isn't a bad penalty to pay. How long do the turbos live? You say you've just bought the turbo, how do you know how well it has been treated in the past?

You say you've just bought the turbo, how do you know how well it has been treated in the past? Don't know how long the turbo will last, however has been owned by a lady driver for almost all of its 18 years, so hopefully not been thrashed that much. I remember when they were current cars and some seem to be prone to head gasket failure. It does'nt belch out any excessive smoke on full acceleration, so fingers crossed.
dollywobbler Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 A friend had an STDT. It was horrifically unreliable. I felt quite bad because he was going to buy a Corsa but I said "Nooo! Get something reliable like a Peugeot 205..." I think he picked a bad one that had been buggered about with - sports air filter and other such nonsense. In the same engine 'battle' with the BX, I was quite impressed to get 54mpg very easily on a recent trip in the Turbo Diesel, compared to more like 48mpg with the normally aspirated - though the NA BX usually has a larger 1905cc engine that the 205.
Morgan84 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I had almost forgot the STDT trim level of that period;used to look after a 405 STDT estate
