In road tests of the time the diesel version was one of the few that got more mpg than the Pug 205, but apparently it wasn't as good to drive. Any truth to this?

 

I like the styling of these Novas, the arches are like the Porsche 944 and Midas Gold. Maybe that's not placing the bar too high

Brilliant little buzz boxes fro the time, even the styling seems fresh nowadays. My CUZ1N had one of these and did what every other near-30 year old chav did to thier Novas, he modified it, badly.

They must be the only mainstream car to have such different front wings between the 3 and 2/4/5 door models. I knew they had entered banger territory when I first saw one with odd front wings.

A mate of mine bought one in about 2002 years ago - a SRI or GSI or whatever, and he paid top money for it. Obviously went into it head first being 18 at the time, I think he ended up with a few grand from an inheritance so spunked it all on the first shiny car he saw from a backstreet dealer somewhere like dewsbury. When he first turned up in it, I knew something looked off but couldn't work out what, after a few minutes it clicked - both front wings were the rounded ones, you could see where the "swing" or whatever pinstripes had been peeled off.

 

After taking the piss out of him for a bit we looked closer and found the obviously the thing had been lashed together after taking a knock. It must have been a good smack, the car even had a solid base model spec disk and hub on the passenger side, and a proper SRI one on the other side. He phoned the dealer to complain and as expected got told where to shove it
