Harrogate Shitroen Show

That was discussed in another thread, so I thought I'd start a new one in case people have missed it. I went there this afternoon, I had a job interview in Leeds, so I was in completely inappropriate attire and my feet had been aching from some shit new trainers I was wearing yesterday- consequently I didn't buy a ticket and only sneakily visited the camping grounds and other bits around the main show. The turnout is not just massive, it's fucking UNREAL. The entire town is awash with Tractions, Deesses and other Citrochod. The weather was glorious and I would happily spend fifteen quid for such an event if I could go there for a full day and without aching feet. I didn't take any pics (only had the mobile with me and I just wanted to see as much as my feet would permit), but please Ian and whoever else visits post your pics here.

I'll say it once again. The turnout is OUT OF THIS WORLD. There are even people who came for the show all the way from Germany and the Netherlands in old Transits and even a couple of sodding Renault Scenics. So, let's reiterate: people drove halfway across Europe and paid a packet for entry and camping WITHOUT EVEN OWNING A CITROEN. That's how popular the event is, and that's why you should definitely go there.

Leaving Leicester for the show in the Ami 6 first thing tomorrow... So if you see a daft French car going very slowly up the A1, well that will be me...can't wait to see the other tat though...

You're probably better off going on the M1 and through Leeds. Had my feet been in decent condition, I'd have asked you to allow me to come over as a 'passenger' of yours!

I'm off tomorrow but not in the 2CV since it's currently undergoing some fettling, £20 day visitor ticket, sounds a lot but then it's not everyday you get a Citroen meet of this size. At least the weather has improved somewhat :D

I'll take some photos, if someone starts a ICCCR thread I'll add my pics, and hopefully come back with a load of spares too.

Welcome to AS. Just post the pics here. We are too irreverent (or is that stupid?) to use official club/show names.

Haha, I get to talk about this in Radio York's travel news tomorrow (someone told them about it  ).

I went today, but just did the showground as opposed to the camping areas. The through-traffic blocks the A661 up between the roundabout and the Sainsbury's at the edge of the YEC like a constipated pipe cleaner.

The corners of the showground are named after significant places in Citroen history. One massive section that was under cover, 'Aulnay', was completely empty when I left. I guess that space has yet to be filled. It's nowhere near its capacity, let me tell you. The food is good too, if rather expensive. If you want to go, take at least £50 (or be sensible and take your own refreshments). C4 did 258 miles on 1/4 of a tank, which was nice.

There was a CX Athena on a Russian plate, plus a fuck ton of Chapron DSs (plus one SM Opera) and quite a few Meharis, and the biggest collection of GSs outside of a Chevronics get together. They were almost common.

I really wanted to speak to Rob Moss, but he wasn't on the stand at the time I was wandering around. Hall 1 was full of traders. Watch out for the old ICCCR poster seller as you go on the right. I bagged a lovely 1976 Ypres CCCR meet poster for £3. Sadly, he had a £500 Dinky model stolen whilst he was talking to a customer, so there's shits around, even in old Citroen circles. Conservertoire Citroen have a large exhibition space directly opposite the trading space in the same hall. They have a TPV on show, as well as a Ten and a Kegresse. Some of the stillborn prototypes - Projects F and Y, are there too. It was nice to see them under better lighting than the battery acid farts of the NEC.

The autojumble space hadn't really got going when I was there. I bet that gets bigger over the weekend. There's some outdoor traders in front of Hall 1 also.

After being a royal PITA for the past week, my D60 decided to play ball, so I got some shots. Shout if you want me to throw a few up.

I also took a roll on my Olympus FTL. I haven't used an analogue SLR since I was six, and the roll advance lever was taking the piss, so I don't know if any of those came out. We shall see.

Definitely worth a visit if you're nearby.

The ICCCR is definitely worth a visit - you'll not see anything like it again in the UK for many years to come...

I only went for the first two days, Thursday and Friday, however the attendance yesterday was absolutely amazing. Speaking to people that are there today, it's even bigger. There's more than 70 CXs there, 40 C6s, Hundreds of Tractions, DSs, 2CVs etc...

I've some pics here of Thursday and Friday - the attendance is even bigger now - http://www.flickr.com/photos/icccr2012/

Just seen your message although a little too late unfortunately.

Still, cracking show and well worth the entrance fee. Photoz L8R.

I will go through my shots tonight. There's a strong GS bias for some reason.
