Sporting future shite, recomendations...

I know Vauxhall get a slagging on here (rightly so with respect to most of their recent efforts), but the 1990s Cav and Calibra are genuinely good cars. They're... engaging to drive

That is one of the most stupid things I've ever read on the Internet. And there is a LOT of stupid stuff on the Internet.

Aye.

You prepared to justify that piss-take, pal?

I've driven Cavaliers and they're pretty stodgy to drive, even the grimmest Peugeot has a bit of flair about the way it drives, Vauxhalls are just insipid.

ORLY? Well I disagree. Especially the GSi and SRi models with close-ratio gearboxes and fast steering racks are lively and torquey, whilst still providing useful family transport (Cavalier) and a slippery shape for fast A-road and motorway cruising (Calibra, which you've criticised without even having driven). Not to mention the turbos.

But that wasn't my question. You can disagree with someone else's opinion without doing it in such a cuntish way as you did - so what's the story fella? I note from your previous comments that you called Pete-M a wanker (via emoticon) for using the word "simples" in a thread about air conditioning. Are you some sort of sociopath?

Hi all, Seriously late BUT -certainly as far as Nottingham is concerned - Pumas seem to be chav weapon of choice. Any for sale all seem to have at least 2 or 3 highly questionable mods.

As far as Saab's go - I've had 2 classic 900's, a turbo and non-turbo and 4 9000's, 2 and 2.3 litre's both with and without turbo's. I had a GM900 for a while and it was suprisingly economical and as mentioned by others, it was a giggle to drive. Towards the end of our friendship I realised the bulkhead was seperating - it finally gave way, in the snow, when I hit a huge pothole on a roundabout.

I spoke to Nottingham Saab afterwards and they advised that if anyone was considering buying one then to obviously check it by doing the steering wheel wiggle on full lock - checking the pedals for movement. But also to avoid any 900 / 93 with daft alloys and lowered suspension for obvious reasons. I bought mine with both...

Other points, I'm sure the OP wants an auto, but the old Saab worn synchro problem with manual boxes applies - mine had to be nursed into 3rd from 2nd and the PAS fluid pipes run the length of the front bumper / rad for cooling purposes - these pipes corrode and obviously cheap 2nd hand pipes are non-existent and are therefore expensive to sort.

I lost 250 quid when I sold her for parts - had 8-9 months of fun - I'd have another in a heartbeat if I thought the good lady's death threats weren't genuine...
