Butser Hill 2012- Pictures

Last weekend was the annual show by the South Hants Vehicle Preservation Society. The name conjours up a load of old giffers sitting around polishing Lanchesters and Alvis tourers but in fact it's always a really good show with a huge variety of vehicles in terms of age, type and shiteness. One strange thing is that, for some reason, it doesn't attract the 'usual suspects'. There are no MGBs and hardly any Minis in my pictures not because I avoided them but because they weren't there.

 

I took the Scabby Standard along and parked it up next to some prime Campershite:

 

 

This H-Van was for sale at Beaulieu Autojumble the weekend before. Close-up it seems to have been painted with a tin of Dulux and a roller brush .

 

Jowett bucking the trend in the British motor industry by thoughtfully improving engine access. Good job too, in retrospect.

 

...can't think of anything apt to say about Vauxhalls. Not my area of expertise.

 

Early FWD, quad-leaf-spring IFS shite.

 

Full-on Essex spec shite.

 

This 'Heritage' replica looked quite convincing until you saw the interior, which was full of bits of XJ40.

 

All the idisynchrosies of French automotive design distilled into one car.

 

Floppy-bodied sportscar shite.

 

Tractor-engined austerity motoring for all.

 

...erm...a Vauxhall...

 

...and another one.

 

Not shite, but glorious. I didn't even know these existed.

 

It's a metallic brown Landcrab. No more needs to be said.

 

Orange Microshite, part 1

 

A big 'ol slice of Rootes Group majesty. I think there's a law where you have to say "Of course you know where the filler cap is on those...?"

 

Rubbish when new, lovably awful today.

 

Not sure I've seen one of these before, either.
