New Acquisition- another merc

Hot on the heels of the SL comes another w124 estate. I seem to have a mercedes obsession at the moment. I have had several w124s, the last being a notably miserable example (white diesel estate, i did a thread on it) that had been to the moon and back and was basically worn smooth with abuse and miraculously had an MOT. An awful car. This new example is much better, has the poverty spec gutless engine, and the standard fit 5 speed manual transmission. The first owner was economical with the options sheet, ticking the MB tex interior option, which is basically indestructible taxi spec vinyl seats. Metallic paint was also ticked, in this case blauchwartz (black metallic) It has a good service record, and for a 20 year old car isnt in bad shape really.

What's the gearchange like? I'm given to believe from all the articles I've read about used M-Bs that their manual gearboxes are pretty agricultural.

Nice. I like MB manuals, and my 200E was a brilliant car- far preferred it to me 230E auto. I'm looking after a 300D TE auto at the moment and its a truly horrible car. Horrible.
