Volvo 4 x 4 Steering Rack

Friends of The Fuhrer have a late 90s 4 wheel drive Volvo Estate. I 'm not sure what model it is as I've only seen it across a car park at night. It's done around 140, 000 but I know nothing else about it. Long story short, it's failed its MoT on the sreering rack. Volvo want £800 for one and they've looked for a re-con, on ebay etc etc to no avail. Looks like it's going to be scrapped.

 

I may be being presumptious here as I don't know what their intentions are for it (other than not wanting to spend a load of money) but if anyone here is interested, I can pass on details. Or maybe someone has a 4 wheel drive rack?

Have a look on volvoforums.co.uk , someone on there late last year was breaking an 850AWD (that's probably what it is). Sorry, no time to hunt for it myself right now, good luck!
