... Iveco Daily 35s.

Billy, your unbiased opinion is welcome

Seriously, the motorhome is likely being sold tonight to a dealer and I am on the hunt for a 'race' camper instead to replace it once the house has sold and I've massaged the mortgage figures.

The big 'un is a Merc 416cdi, which I have enjoyed driving but is Non LEZ compliant, which restricts my use of it and so it is time to take that big hit and flog it.

I carry a lot about with me and am after a 3.5 tonner from 2006 onwards, with a camper conversion (like the Race Passion ones) that I can also carry the half a ton of stock in too.

So, half of them seem to be on Daily bodies, and I'd like to know what they're like, and an idea of day to day problems and fuel economy.

My choices are limited to a sprinter, crafter or Iveco so I can get something of a decent size.

Well, you did ask!

To be fair I've not driven one in years now but they did pretty much seem to suffer the same problems at the time. Electrics and build quality were the big downfall. Indicators and dial/switches only worked when they felt like it and the fixtures and fittings could drive you insane with awful design and build. Give them them their due they can't half shift though. I suppose to sum it up I'd only have one if someone else owned it.

the new one seems to be a Renault master in drag too!

Most likely looking at a 2006 Euro IV version - dont want to get stung three years from now when TfL decides to change the goal posts again.

Residuals used to be pretty shit to be honest mate as they had a bit of a name. However things change all the time and campers do hold their value well.

the race campers seem to be much more reasonable than a 'real' camper - you can buy 2004-6 ones for £7-8k and sometimes less, which makes a big difference from a motorhome proper.

I may still get a sprinter/crafter - depends on what is about when I want to spend some money again.
