Today's road trip

Just drove my ass from glosgow-ish down to a bit near Telford. No incidents to report but the spots were ok (M6) there must have been a track event as there were several track-lookin things on car flatbeds pulled by 'team' transits. Mk1 Escort for one, Opal ascona coupé for another (mega spot of the day) and the other was an L-reg. Corsa that was all like, touring car spec. For some reason I quite appreciated this, I think it was specifically because it was an L reg. Just liked it - dunno why.

 

Also saw a beardy type on a massive home-made-life-project, flying bedstead type trike thing like the Billy Connelly Australia tour one except looking more like it was built out of a child's climbing frame and also painted khaki. It was awesome.

 

Saw a Mk5 Cortina travelling North on the M6 south of Lancaster, Pulled up next to a red DS Pallas in a Services with a stoopid name.

 

Breakdowns noted: 2x Mk1 Corsas (one a tyre - was gonna stop an help but was traveling on express mode), Mk3 Mondeo, Mk2 Cleo, 207, penultimate Mk Passat, and one of those Enima- PPL carrier, import-lookin things with a cluster of Muslim types huddles around the SOS box. A gold Range rover too. I feel it was the colour that caused it to fail.

 

BMW drivers still drive the same way but there seemed to be a high count of 'OMG German High quality performance saloons' in the 'slow' lane going slow. Was there something afoot? seemed unusual. Maybe they knew of a new invisible speed trap that will duly issue me with one ticket per M6 flyover on monday morning, OR they were just driving like geriatrics due to the cost of petrol now.

 

Mk5 Astra van drivers still seem to have an inferiority complex about overtaking.

 

I've decided I quite like those Chrysler saloon car, Lincoln-looking things (dunno the correct Model name) and I now definitely WANT an MX-5

 

On the road back this evening I refuelled with a pozer with a new Porsche thing that I nowadays can't tell what the model is in the pier in front, he was also in front in the queue in the shop and razzed off in front of everyone. There was a Traffic Police Volve filling up just as I left. It hooned past me 10 mins later up the M6. I passed it about 20 mins later having booked the Porka. Wonder what speed he was booked at.

 

That's my day's observations on the M6 south then north in one day. No acceptable photos this episode so I didn't put them in my old spottings thread (wherever it is) so this time you just have to imagine the spots.

Xant. I was on a mission to collect some unpostable bits for the CX. namely the back window that I smashed like some sort of super-spazz after spending an hour and forty minutes carefully separating 95% of the glass bonding only for the whole back window to explode during a manoeuvre to ease the next mm of the last teeeny bit of bonding on the glass... well, at least I have a new glass now and two bits of replacement exhaust.

 

I do like a reason to do an M6 or M1 jaunt as there's always spottage to be had. Summers is better though.
