Citroen BX 16TGS Auto 47931 Miles For Sale

My G plate BX 16 TGS Auto is up for sale - latest casualty of a fleet and house rationalisation. Next on my list to go is a 2004 Rimor 747 TC motorhome.

Back to the BX - it is a 47931 mile from new giffer spec BX 16 TGS.

Dark grey metallic, has small dent front wing and a more major dent on the nearside rear door (although I have a decent door that is included in the sale).

It runs and drives well, as you would expect from a 1600 Auto with such low mileage.

It is tidy inside, looks not too bad outside and will look much better with the new door fitted. Some damage to rear near side quarter panel too but I think this will pull out.

Sunroof works both up and back, although lack of winter use means it is a tad slow going up. Leccie windows in the front, keep fit in the back. Split rear seats.

Has four good tyres (no spare, however, sorry it never came with one!) of reasonable makes but it don't half tyre squeal when driven hard!

Good points

rust free in the usual places so door hinges at front good and rear door areas both good.

47800 miles (genuine)

three owner (one owner till 2007)

MoT'd till April (800 miles since last MoT)

Bad points

giffer dents

no spare wheel

needs news exhaust system sooner rather than later

no tax (will tax at cost)

£350 no offers

PM Me for phone number.

Will swap with XM or Visa - cash either way.

PM Me your email address and I'll take some photos tomorrow.

it's in the carport just now but I drove it back earlier and fitted a replacement clock to it, which works better than the original. She gets started once a week and run for 30 mins - today was her run for the week. It takes about fifteen turns of the ignition to start from that cold but that's the pump priming the carb more than any issues.Once it's been started it'll start no problem all day. It is a bit dirty as my mucky cats keep running over the top of it on their shortcuts to the front of the house.

I can easily photograph the damaged side - the new rear door is rust free but it has leccie windows while the original has keep fit.

You can get new quarter panels for about £85 still, the bumper has a few light scrapes, but they aren't painted bumpers as it is the basic model but I'd recommend painting them same time as the new door gets fitted.

I'm in Gloucester.

There's a BX Haynes BOL too, plus the owner's manual pack.

Mine needs about 3-5 turns on the ignition and bags of throttle. Carbon needs a good service. Brilliant starter when hot.

I would add that the 1.6 XU engine with the twin bore solex is an excellent set up, quick and responsive the car pumps out about the same bhp as the 1.7 tdi. XU petrols ate very tough and straightforward engines with that typically gallic hollow thrum the old douvrins had....not that the Xu is a douvrin. Coupled with the direct steering and the lightness of the car together with phenomenal brakes these are excellent fun to drive and a brilliant starter into the wacky world of hydropneumatic citroens

TGS is reasonable spec.

mileage is 47931, backed up by mileage record and mot history.

As you can see, it is a rare 1990 BX fitted with a cat

BXs do look nice in this colour.

Just out of interest, anyone know when they started fitting the smoked rear lights? My F-reg BX14 has the older type. Maybe it's a spec thing.

Cla$$ic insurance on this one FTW.

G plate for the change to the green smoked effect!

Yep, I have it on a classic policy - £50 last year, 3000 mile limit.
