I saw mention of Speke, but I have no idea what that is and the internet makes me none the wiser.

Factory on Merseyside where TR7s were initially made. Famously strike-prone, and shut down in 1981. More here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/liverpool/hi/people_and_places/history/newsid_8401000/8401200.stm

back in the 1980's I heard that you shouldn't have touched a Speke built TR7 with a shitty stick. Funny really because the workers were all totally behind the factory and product. :P

However by now all the Friday cars will have rotted out and been scrapped, along with the Monday, Tuesday and Thursday cars. I can only assume that those left were either built on Wednesdays or by "scabs" while Red Robbo was on one of his many many awayday with his comrades.

Still we wouldn't have the car industry we have today without them eh :twisted:

tinfoil hat installed and waiting for a barrage of it wasn't the unions it was Maggie etc etc etc

BL was well buggered well before Maggie got in TBH... She may have killed off the mining industry later on but the 'British' car industry was on life support after the 73 oil crisis.
