Should I buy an Avantime?

What a shame. Bet you're disappointed. I don't know what really good ones go for...had she had a few people turn up to look? If she's getting negative comments she'll soon realise she needs to drop the price.

I think I've only ever seen blue ones!

I'd be inclined to wait it out for another Avantime, most other stuff would be boring by comparison...

Nah, I'll give it up. I wasn't particularly looking for an Avantime, this one just cropped up a couple of streets away and I fancied a punt on it.

I'm a lazy sod when it comes to buying cars, most of the ones I've bought recently have been local, and living in a big city means I rarely even bother looking at anything more than 20 miles away.

Sounds a shambles. Just to make you feel better for walking away - mine has full service history, cambelt not due for 4 years, perfect bodywork and a lovely interior (once the fag smell was out of it) and I paid £1500. Far enough the mileage is quite a bit higher but sounds like this guy is taking the P. He didn't even clean it inside for you coming??

I have a BMW 540i you can have for much less than £2k!

I'm not a Renner fan but i must admit I liked the sound of this. Sometimes things sound too good to be true, you did the right thing to walk away.

It was one of the filthiest cars I've sat in for a good few years. :(

The cream coloured dash was a mess, the cloth seats were covered in dog hairs and unidentified stains, every one of the little bins on the dash was full of crud, sweetie wrappers, woman's hair accessories (car was owned by a chick, not entirely displeasing to the eye it has to be said... ) assorted kiddie stuff etc...

I could have seen past all that if the car wasn't needing so much work done to it. A day's work would have got it presentable, but it would have been a full day's work.

Ah well, onwards and upwards.

I'll keep my eye on the local auction houses incase she does chop it in then I can nip along and maybe get it for a steal. I can't see many traders wanting to touch it.

I gave in and bought my fourth Avantime. Such fun today doing a 300 mile trip in all weathers - country roads, city, motorway. Averaged more than 30mpg, too. I am not as mad as a local old boy who has three. Wicked 8)

A local car hire centre has an Avantime lurking in its yard of assorted budget rental shite. I have a holiday booked for August and am seriously tempted to rent it rather than squeeze everything (including the dog and his crate) in the smart or borrow the mother-in-law's old Corsa. I'm sure it'll come with breakdown cover. What could possibly go wrong?
