Found by the wifes grandfather whilst removing a very old established hawthorn hedge at the side of the road in the 1970's when he worked for the council.

 

Solid brass, possibly chrome plated once upon a time, aprox 6" tall with wingspan of 8" and smashing knockers.

Threaded base.

That's the Rolls-Royce Spirit of Ecstacy on a night out in the Ministry of Sound.

She looks a bit too upright* to be a car hood ornament I'd have thought. She should be leaning forwards a bit and tucking her wings in slightly.

 

*old Chrysler's had a bit of uprightness going on, but that's all I can think of and I'm jiggered if I can find a picture. :oops:

May not be for a particular make, lots of firms sold mascots as accesories in the '20s and '30s.

Maybe. After trawling possibly every google image on the internet this is the closest I have found:
