A pal has just emailed. He wants an 850 or v70 estate. Must be black. Don't know the full story....

Anyone got anything for sale?

check ebay and auto trader - in the last 3-4 weeks there have been some serious bargains on there - ie a 2000 V70 GLT, fully loaded - 100k on the clock coming in at £400 with 12 month MOT last month on autotrader - traders selling them as cheap trade ins at the moment when folk are looking to downgrade to less gutsy cars the bottom of the market has fallen for these - gas drinking cars are very cheap just now. Anything diesel or under 1.6 seems to be holding value

Interestingly, a good friend of mine is looking for an 850 estate or TV2-type V70 (to replace his Jaguar XKR ) and he has remarked that even late model V70s in his area (Didcot/Abindgon) are on forecourts for a bag or less. Bad news for traders, but good news for people who like big car bargains :)

aye - now is the time to be buying a big Volvo - can't believe how cheasp they are at the moment....,mind you there is a lot of late 90's kit out just now - seems to be some real bargains with some of the trade in clearances what is interesting is how many are sold with tax as well as test

Lots of replacements for TV2, should it go bang or get crunched! The XC90 is particularly intriguing, especially at £999, but I'd be constantly worrying about the AWD system.

Awd system is the same as the one in the 850...viscous coupling continuous...tough as old boots provided you do the basics....oil,grease etc. A good idea if you are doing long distances at speed to try and make sure all tyres are the same and have similar wear....not important if using it for a school bus or a plumbers van!
