Peugeot 106 Zest of Use to Anyone???

Our Peugeot 106 Zest just failed the MOT on emissions; the engine oil is burning & the catalytic converter is therefore damaged. Even fitting a new cat won't help, so, after almost 88,000 miles, it's time to say goodbye.... The "First To Buy" scrappers have just offered me £100, based on the car's weight, but if a fellow Autoshiter wants it for the same money, come on down.....

Serviced regularly, 2 owners; the first being a vicar (no, honestly, my father-in-law WAS a vicar!) and the second being the current Mrs. Hutchings (A.K.A. SHMBO!) yellow headlights fitted, air horns, Michelin tyres and a CD player (which I WILL be removing before the scrapper has it...) Seats, trim & all other bits & pieces in good order. Central locking works. No advisories on the M.O.T., apart from the emissions failure, of course! No tax (well, 3 days; it's out on the 31st!)

PM me if you're interested. If not, it's off to the crusher for our little runabout!

Where are the dark places you penetrate? Bizarrely I need an engine that isn't seized!

How bad were the emissions ? Was it at idle is failed the test,or after the second fast idle test. I know that them little Peugeots can be VERY slow im warming up their cats as they get older to pass the emissions test;sometimes a long fast drive prior to test helps them clean up and pass.I used to struggle each year for a few years on several 106's to get them to pass them test, but cat's were not a uncommon item to replace. In saying that,on one car,I think I saved them changing the cat for 2 or 3 years before we had to give in. If its burning oil,and its the valve stem seals,a good oil seal conditioner will sometimes give a little more life to them, and last a while

Hi,

I am (also) very interested, depending where abouts you are.

Thanks
