Battery tester - 3 quid @ Aldi!

I went to my local Aldi for some food-related purchases and stumbled across a little beauty. A very compact ( about 6-7cm long and 1.5-2cm tall) "battery and alternator tester" priced at 2.99! I haven't actually checked whether it works, but, assuming that it does, it would not only be useful in confirming the obvious fact that, despite being made of pure WIN, your beige Riva won't start after being laid up for 2 years because the battery is dead, but could also be GR11 for getting a few quid off your next shitter by faking disappointment: "this 'll need a new battery ASAP, mate...".

It won't be a battery problem on a Riva: the alternators are service items, IIRC, virtually impossible to find a substitute and at 1991 prices, nigh on £40
