question for bodgers: block sealers

So... is there a sealant for cracked blocks that really works?

I'm a bit OCD about a job being done well and the nearest ive got to that sort of thing is rad weld.

The block is aluminium, the crack is a frost crack from water jacket to external face.

Its my missus' motorbike and the engine is in a shite state and i cant be arsed to take it apart and fix it properly as i had been thinking about building up a better engine for it as a straight swap so just want it to be useable until later this year.

If it's external can't you bosh a load of quiksteel into the crack and see if that works?

I've used Holts WondaWeld a few years ago on a diesel VW LT with a cracked head.........it worked.

The instructions were good reading too......

Firstly you had to plugs any holes (!) with wire wool and them remove the thermostat..........pour the goop in and run warm. Apparently if the thermosat if left in it will try to seal that up. I don't know why it doesn't block the rad

It works...........no idea how long for but given it will apparently fill holes your wife's little crack should be well sorted!
