Even with its problems (all easily surmountable), it's a steal at the price you're asking for it :)

yup - all the problems are pretty small and don't effect the day to day use , well at the moment at least.

I would tackle myself, shove an MOT on it and sell it for the big dosh but I'm not really up to it physically just now and some of these jobs mean crawling under the car....

btw looks like the issue with the management light could be a radion supressor fault

Might be interested in this, maybe. Non-commital, eh? Parenting skills at their finest...

thanks for all the interest - looks like the Torsy will be heading to the Cotswolds to be the main transport for an Uber Shitter's aged crumblies who are most dissapointed that their modern Volvo does not live up to the indestructibleness of the 240...

I will miss it's AWEZUM TURNIN SIRKLE

240s are truly the finest Volvos ever made. For me, it'd have to be the 2.3 litre GLT, but the Torslanda sounds like a pretty good motor. At that price, the new owner's got a real bargain. I wish I'd never sold mine now. :(

I think I would probably agree with you. Not in driveability but certainly as a reliable, tough and an amazingly longlived bit of engineering they are the best cars they made - well certainly the best cars that Volvo made in line with their corporate ethos as it was. It's not until you get into the nuts and bolts that yourealise this. The qua,ity of the engineering is superb - even things like the door handles are all metal - no plastic - nothing that can wear - yes they fail after 20 years r so but only because they need adjusting.

Compare to the 850 we have - an awesome machine a wonderful car to drive and chalk and cheese to the 240 but build quality doesn't come remotely close..trim breaks, parts fail, rust!
