Arse biscuits... took the old HA up to Manchester on Friday to do some show at the Trafford Centre (shite show not worth it, but that's not the issue), on the way up the car sat lovely at 60 mph but after stopping at a mates whilst awaiting a few other Viva owner to arrive, we set off in convoy with me fourth in a line of five cars (4 vivas and a super shite Bedford Rascal Bambi camper). within 2 miles of the house, I stopped at a junction, alas NO BRAKES!!!

 

I managed to limp the poor car the few miles to the Trafford Centre on the handbrake...and once parked up, I got straight underneath and found no leaks? alas the problem was the master cylinder the pipe fitting was leaking, so easy fix, nip it up.... BIG error, fucker stripped the thread in the cylinder....

 

 

"Hello is that the AA?"

 

"yes sir how may I help"

 

"please come and take me home please"

 

"can we not fix your car"

 

"doubt you will have a master cylinder for a Viva HA in stock?"

 

"a Viva what?"

 

"HA"

 

"Err... can I put you hold?"

 

few minutes latter

 

"Right sir I will get a lorry out to you"

Yea all in all it manages 140 miles on less that a teaspoon of fuel, and who says old cars are not environmental ?

 

I have just dug out my spare master cylinder, and I shall go out and give the car some stopping power.

Sorry to hear about your Viva woes. It's much better suited to a show like the NEC Classic anyway. MM5 and myself went to the show on the strength of heavy media coverage - and share your view. £10 to get in, horrifically overpriced food and some truly shocking heaps of shit on display. I may well have pissed a Mercedes 190SL owner off* somewhat because of my unfortunate tendency to project over a long distance.

 

We ended up going to Aldi in Stockport for scran. Because we're cheap bastards.
